Collection and garden of the sculptures

The centrality of sculptures in the expressive research of the last two centuries finds a full expression at MAGI in a wide collection of works, very important in terms of quality, quantity and variety of languages, techniques, materials and authors represented.

The main protagonists of Italian sculpture of the Twentieth and twenty-first century, supported by well-known international names, create a collection full of surprises, including large format works and small precious discoveries. Between figuration and abstraction, a story of many voices takes place, where the evolution of plastic arts – from the classical inspiration to the countless not academic and avant-garde variations- becomes clear in its sensible declinations.

In addition to the theme halls, the sculptures take possession of other different spaces, including the external ones, where the monumental works immediately interact with the public. After the big works commissioned for the park of his private house, Giulio Bargellini wanted the MAGI Garden to become a place where big plastic presences live in the light and in an external environment, bringing art into a direct contact with the street and the city, in order to invite even more distracted looks to be captured by the seduction of shapes and images.

Among the authors there are Ugo Attardi, Simon Benetton, Nado Canuti, Arturo Martini, Umberto Mastroianni, Fausto Melotti, Giò Pomodoro, Graziano Pompili, Valeriano Trubbiani.
